Does a Luxembourg change to the Bundesliga?

Horst Steffen is the new coach of SV Werder Bremen and thus the successor to Ole Werner. This was confirmed by the Bundesliga club on Thursday afternoon. The 56-year-old had recently trained second division club SV Elversberg, with which he narrowly missed the climb in the relegation against 1. FC Heidenheim. Steffen will be officially presented on Monday.

Now Steffen fulfills the dream of the Bundesliga with the Bremern. No information was given about the transfer modalities and the duration of the contract. According to the media, it is said to have signed by 2028. Werder pays a transfer fee between an estimated 300,000 and 350,000 euros to SV Elversberg.

This exchange was absolutely convincing me and I quickly decided on Werder ».

Elversberger success coach

The former Bundesliga professional had taken over SV Elversberg 2018 and initially led to the 2nd league from the Regionalliga Südwest to the 3rd and 2023. It was only last Monday that the coach failed in the relegation with Elversberg on the promotion to the Bundesliga after the SVE lost in added time in the second leg against 1. FC Heidenheim. Previously, he had trained Prussia Münster and Chemnitz FC.

Horst stands for offensive, attractive football and very good and clear team leadership.

From a Luxembourg perspective, one question is particularly interesting: What is Raphael Duarte doing now? In February 2022 he moved to SV Elversberg as an assistant coach. The promotion in his first half of the year followed the direct march as a third division champion and even the almost promotion to the Bundesliga. Cooperation with Steffen has worked splendidly in the past three years. Does the 56-year-old take the Luxembourg assistant coach to Bremen?

Duarte is just 28 years old. Before his engagement in Elversberg, he already gained experience as an assistant coach of the French club AS Nancy and as the chief coach of Canach in honor promotion.
