Doctor has been snagging into thousands of citizens’ private information

The regions are very thorough for the sake of the citizens who may be affected. The case is reported to the Data Inspectorate, reported to the Danish Patient Safety Agency and has been reported to the police in both regions. While the regions are investigating the case, the doctor is excluded from employment.

– The affected citizens whose privacy have been violated will be notified directly via a letter in e-Box, as the investigation reveals the specific cases. Here, there will also be a guide to what complaints are available, just as the regions make themselves available to help citizens with questions, says Jan Kold, director of the Group Digitization in Region Zealand.

Doctor used Journal as Krak

The doctor has made the illegal postings over a number of years, and unfortunately the regions’ automatic logging of postings in records has not caught the illegal behavior.

– Partly, there has been a regrettable error in the log -up, so that hospitals have not received a warning about the specific doctor. At the same time, this kind of abuse of the patient record is new. The doctor has not gone for health information but has used the patient record as a form of crash to find full name, CPR and addresses of citizens, which is strictly illegal. We will now look together in the two regions whether the existing algorithms can technically expand, so that they also catch this search pattern forward, says Mette Harbo.

All affected citizens will be contacted directly over the next few weeks. If one is unsafe, or suspects of having been exposed to unjustified posting, one can go on health.dk/borger/min-side/min-log/min-log.

If you find something suspicious, you have to contact the department where an accomplished lookup possibly. may have happened.
