According to sleep experts, the Snooze button is rapidly in our inner clock.

Once you wake up and then slip back to sleep, the brain thinks it should start a whole new sleep cycle.

And so they do not last a few minutes, but rather 75 to 90 minutes.

So when the alarm again noises after a few minutes, you are brutally torn out of something your body had just decided to take seriously.

Can have serious consequences

Mel Robbins, who is the bestselling author and host of his own podcast, explains it this way:

« When you press Snooze, your brain falls back to sleep and it begins on a new cycle. That’s why you often feel more tired and groggy than if you just got up the first time. »

It’s like promising your brain a dinner – and then tearing the plate away after the starter.

But it doesn’t stop here. Researchers from Oxford University now warn that repeated poor sleep – such as Disturbed sleep rhythm from snoozes – can affect hundreds of genes in your body.

It can lead to anything from increased stress and weakened immune system to inflammatory conditions you would prefer to avoid.

So the next time you reach out for the Snooze button, just think about it.

A few minutes extra sleep sounds tempting, but your body would rather have you just got up.
