Do not open case sr. Frederick to a new

The executives of KFUM & K do not intend to take the case sr. Friðrik Fridriksson, the founder of the movement, again. It refers to allegations made in his yard in 2023 and defended alleged sexual harassment or abuse on his part against young boys.

This is confirmed by Tomas Torfason, Managing Director of the association in a written reply to Morgunbladid. An inquiry was sent to the chairman of KFUM, Stefán Jónsson, following the fact that Jón Magnússon Supreme Court Attorney was interviewed in the question on May 9, saying that a group of members in KFUM had requested that the seams be seams on the aforementioned allegations.

BOOK FAST MATTER

As has been discussed on the pages of Morgunblaðið before, the issue came up following the publication of the book Sr. Friðrik Friðriksson and his boys, which the journalist and historian Guðmundur Magnússon wrote about the life and work of the clerk. There was the story of an elderly man who described stimuli by Sr. Frederick, when he was a child but sr. Frederick has come very age.

Subsequently, a great deal of discussion on the case of sr. Frederick and the KFUM Board of Directors of KFUM on advertising by possible other victims sr. Frederick or « Call out in the community for more information » as stated in the aforementioned reply of the Secretary General.

More likelihood than smaller

KFUM subsequently got the priest Bjarni Karlsson and psychologist Sigrún Júlíusdóttir to go into the seams of the matter and talk to the individuals who made a living. In their conclusion, they said that the research topic had proved to be worse than they had expected. However, there were stories, one from a man who directly described the stimulus of Sr. Frederick but others from the relatives of deceased individuals who had a story of that kind. In their conclusion, they said that the accounts that accumulated had gave reason to believe that guilt sr. Frederick had begun to have a sensible doubt or as they say: « that there is a greater likelihood than less that the conduct of special Fridrik has in some cases exceeded the sexuality of decency against young boys and caused them damage. »

In a reply to what Morgunblaðið received last week, it is also stated that the CEO of the company himself received a testimony from a priest who had a history of sexual harassment by SR. Frederick telling a man he « sat on the deathbed a few years ago ». Not from the report sr. Bjarni and Sigrún understand that this account has been particularly in the report and is added to others who are tracked there.

The guilt proven?

In the aforementioned interview with Jón Magnússon, he argues that allegations against sr. Frederick is not fully proven and that the youth leader, who died 64 years ago, has been violated in the light of the fact that people are considered innocent until the guilt is proven in cases against them. Jón pointed out that sr. Fridrik had not been appointed and chosen advocate in the case against him at KFUM & K. Then he also believes that the two experts, who were hired to investigate the case, had predetermined and negative views on SR. Frederick.

In his reply, Tomas points out that KFUM’s treatment of Sr. Fridrik was discussed in detail in the company’s annual report, which was published in April 2024. There, also at the Company’s Annual General Meeting, the matter was given its space and discussion and « support of the members of the Board of Directors on the matter » has been underlined.

« That was a point on the part of the company on this difficult matter, » says Tomas. And he adds: « This issue has taken its toll and leaves a wound to a large number of people. Wounds we need to give time and space to heal. There is no interest on the part of KFUM and KFUK to push it back. »

Cost 1.5 million

In addition, Morgunblaðið made an inquiry to the chairman of KFUM regarding the cost of the investigation and follow -up of the association with the case sr. Frederick.

The CEO’s reply states that the cost is ISK 1.5 million.

« Inside that figure were accounts from Bjarni and Sigrún, accounts for the advertisements in Moggan, counseling costs, psychic care, some books from Guðmundur that we had to buy so that directors could get acquainted with the contents, etc. »
