Ruth Ellis goes again as an unsavory spirit in British television fiction. It has been done by series and TV films about the iconic figure that became the last woman executed in England. After, among others, Miranda Richardson and Georgina Hale play Lucy Boynton the unfortunate woman who was hanged in the summer of 1955. The miniseries « A Cruel Love. The Ruth Ellis Story » is a surprisingly sighted, well-played and atmospheric TV drama about the two-child mother and the nightclub owner that ends up in a Destriva Relation with a Destriv As she shot to death on an open street during the Easter weekend 70 years ago.

Bedded for staff mode when a corpse is found in the White House in the middle of an ongoing state banquet for the Australian Prime Minister. The latest Netflix product from the production company Shondaland (« Scandal », « Bridgerton ») is a glamorous and humorous murder mystery in « Knives Out » style with screwball pace and a cameo by Kylie Minogue (!). Uzo Aduba plays the eccentric master detective Cordelia Cupp called in to solve the as complicated as prolonged murder cases. An entertaining and partial series that is not always as fun as it itself thinks it is.

The arrangement with two unmatched police officers who are reluctantly forced to cooperate, but despite all developing effective collaboration is one of the world's most worn tropes. With that said, I was still a little impressed by the dynamic cultural clash between Amy de Bhrúns and Eoin Macken's police from various sides of the disputed border between Ireland and Northern Ireland. The fate brings them together when the corpse from a young woman who celebrated a bridal shower in northern Ireland was flushed up a beach in Northern Ireland.

That the « eo » director and actor Jerzy Skolimowski (« Avengers », « Eastern promises ») is included on the cast is enough for me to give this Polish TV series a proper chance. The charged original series for HBO is described as « a gripping and excited psychological thriller that explores the idea that no one is absolutely perfect. At the center stands the devoted family father and heart surgeon Pawel (Krzysztof Czeczot) who sees his perfect life or he is suddenly forced between an unexpected life.

« An irresistibly hopeful story of understanding and acceptance, » wrote DN's Wanda Bendjelloul in his review of the family -friendly witch musical with Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande. Maybe that's exactly what the world needs right now. The action takes place at a magical boarding school where Elphaba (Erivo) and Glinda (Grande) meet and develop an unexpected friendship. The film is based on the Broadway set from 2003 and was nominated for 10 Oscar statues.

The matchless British Netflix drama « Adolescence » has taken the flow world by storm. The action revolves around a family whose 13-year-old son is suspected of the murder of a year-old girl. There were four heartbreaking, gas -hugging and gripping episodes that were all filmed in a single shot. This mini -documentary shows how the film team went about it to succeed in catching an entire hour in a single uninterrupted shot. Among other things, it is talked about how the endless rehearsals were about getting the script to sit in the actors' muscle memories. The authors Stephen Graham and Jack Thorne also talk about their thoughts on the contents and themes of the series.

« Leaving Neverland 2. The survivors »

Six years ago came the documentary « Leaving Neverland », where Wade Robson and James Safechuck accused Michael Jackson for abuse. Although Jackson was released in 2005, they are still struggling to keep his companies responsible, with a new trial planned for 2026. In the sequel, the Dan Reed explores the effects of the first film on the victims and Jackson's fans. The seven -year recording includes interviews with detectives who reviewed Jackson during his lifetime.

The third Paddington movie develops into the pure Tintin adventure when the Peruvian brown bear (Ben Whishaw) returns to South America to search for Aunt Lucy who has disappeared from the old age home in the Amazon. Although the third is not as groundbreaking as the first two, the sequel remains the pounding heart, pathos and playful charm-« a little generic but still entertaining », which Fredrik Sahlin wrote in his DN review.

With the exception of « Holy Motors » I have never been a big fan of the French film's single terrible, Leos Carax. But I still have to say that I was properly taken by this strange and huge musical by the Sparks brothers Ron and Russell Mael. Marion Cotillard and Adam Drivers shine brightly in this moody and dark love story, which is a highly intriguing variant of beauty and the beast theme that takes place in the midst of the dark heart of modern celebrity culture.

Classic conspiracy thriller where Max von Sydow plays the French assassin Joubert who hits Robert Redford's role figure who works as an analyst for the CIA under the code name « Condor ». The nightmare -like intrigue is triggered when Joe returns from the lunch break and discovers that all his colleagues are brutally murdered. While he himself is a chased prey, he at the same time tries to find out the truth behind the attack. Builds on James Gradu's book « Six days for Condor ».
