Djokovic’s surprising elimination
Serbian tennis player Novak Djokovic (5 ATP) was surprisingly eliminated on Wednesday, at his debut in the ATP Masters 1,000 tournament, equipped with total prizes of 6,128,940 euros, after giving up in two sets, 3-6, 4-6, in front of the Chilian Alejandro Tabilo (32 ATP), competition.
The 27-year-old South American has prevailed after a match of only an hour and a half in front of the holder of 24 great Slam titles.
Tabilo will evolve in the next round against the winner in the match that opposes the Bulgarian Grigor Dimitrov (18 ATP) and the Valentin Varrot Monegascus (256 ATP).
It should be mentioned that Alejandro Tabilo had a victory checked against Djokovic, last year, at the ATP Masters 1,000 tournament, when he won 6-2, 6-3, also in the second round of the race.
In another match, the Spanish Carlos Alcaraz (3 ATP) imposed in front of the Argentine Francisco Cerundolo (22 ATP) in three sets, 3-6, 6-0, 6-1. In the eighth, Alcaraz will have the opponent of German Daniel Altmaier (84 ATP).
The Italian Flavio Cobulli, who won the title in Bucharest on Sunday, was defeated in the second round by the French Arthur Fils 6-2, 6-4.
