Djokovic and Murray end cooperation – Diepresse.com
After disappointing weeks for Djokovic, the spectacular coaching relationship is over.
One and a half weeks before the beginning of the French Open, Novak Djokovic and Andy Murray ended their spectacular cooperation. The Record Grand Slam tournament winner from Serbia surprisingly signed the British tennis legend as a coach at the beginning of the year. However, the success failed.
At the Australian Open, Djokovic (37) had to give up in the semi -finals against Alexander Zverev because of an injury, even after that the Serb did not get going. The long-time number one in the world only reached the final at the Masters 1000 event in Miami, but missed his 100th title on the ATP tour.
Weak sandplace season
Djokovic lost his opening games in Monte-Carlo and Madrid in Monte-Carlo and Madrid. The Serb is not included in the current Masters 1000 event in Rome. Instead, he wants to collect the urgently needed game practice in front of the French Open next week in Geneva, which will begin on May 25th in the Roland Garros Stade.
« Thank you Coach Andy for all the hard work, the fun and support on and next to the court in the past six months, » wrote Djokovic on social media. « I really enjoyed deepening our common friendship. »
Murray also spread a few words of thanks. « Thank you Novak for the incredible chance to work with you, » wrote the Briton, who ended his career last year. (APA/dpa)
