Djokovic, a new defeat
Serbian tennis player Novak Djokovic (5 ATP, favorite no. 4) was surprisingly eliminated on Saturday, at his first match at the Tournament of Madrid Masters 1,000, equipped with total prizes of 8,055,385 euros. Novak was in two sets, 3-6, 4-6, by the Italian Matteo Arnaldi (44 ATP).
In their first confrontation, the Serb, triple winner of the tournament (2011, 2016, 2019) was defeated in less than two hours by a player who ticks the second career success in front of a top 5 competitor.
Arnaldi will play in the next round with the Damir Dzumhur Bosnian (63 ATP).
