Bag coupon detachment, twenty -two companies of the FTSE MIB index pay the coupon: it is the advance of a 10 billion season, that’s who shines for generosity
It is one of the most anticipated appointments of the year by Italian investors, especially for those who aim for a strategy oriented towards value and income: today, May 19, 2025, it is the Dividend Daythe day when numerous companies listed on the stock exchange will distribute part of the profits generated during the previous year to shareholders. Overall, the cash flow arriving from the stock exchange exceeds abundantly 10 billion euros. An important event that, in 2025, assumed a particular meaning in a market context marked by geopolitical uncertainty, in particular after the Liberation Day announced by Donald Trump. In such a turbulent phases, dividends represent both a source of profit and a confirmation of solidity by the companies that can afford to remunerate shareholders despite uncertainties. The yields of this year are particularly generous, also overcoming the double figure, and, according to analysts, they could become even more interesting in 2026. In the meantime, investors also enjoy the positive performance of the FTSE MIB index of Piazza Affari, which in the last year has gained 15%, leaving behind the most acute phase of volatility followed to the announcement of the duties. The economy of Courier The 22 companies of the main index has put under observation which will now distribute the dividend, with data that are shown in the table alongside.
The list, starting from the banking
At the top of the ranking, Banca Monte dei Paschi di Siena stands out, with a yield of the coupon (Yield) equal to 10.5%, the highest of the great Italian titles. The Yield It is calculated by reporting the dividend by action with the current price of the title: it therefore represents the percentage of immediate return that the investor obtains in relation to the value of his actions. For MPS, with a dividend of 0.86 euros per share and a current price of 8.2 euros, it is precisely a 10.5%. Analysts estimate that even next year the Sienese bank will maintain a high performance, around 10.3%. The Dividend Dayhowever, it also brings with it a technical effect not to be overlooked: the actions price automatically reduces an amount equal to the distributed dividend. If a title concluded the Friday session with a price of 10 euros and a dividend of 0.50 euros, the session of around 9.50 euros will open, except for movements due to the supply and supply of the market. The same effect we will have it on the stock exchange index. So don’t panic if in the morning it will start in red. Among other credit institutions, Banco BPM It will detach a coupon of 0.60 euros per share, equal to 5.9% of the price, but it is the balance of the annual coupon and therefore with a much more attractive perspective for next year, when the total return, that is, by adding up and balance, could rise to 9.6%. Bper Banca pays 7.6% this year, with 9.5% growth forecasts in 2026. Intesa Sanpaolo has a more contained immediate return, equal to 3.5%, and always limited to the balance, but it is expected that next year the overall coupon will be much more generous, with a yield of 7.5%.
Utilities and infrastructure
In the energy sector, Eni distributes a down payment of the annual coupon, with a modest performance of 1.9%, but analysts’ forecasts aim for a total coupon for 2026 which would offer a total yield of 7.5%. Saipem will instead pay a high immediate return equal to 7.5%, but with more conservative forecasts for the future (6.6%) on which the strong decline in the oil price since the beginning of the year weighs. Looking at the other sectors, the highest yields are concentrated between utilities and infrastructures, titles traditionally considered defensive and stable in moments of turbulence. Inwit will distribute a coupon equal to 4.9%, with growth prospects of up to 6.5%, while Italgas will offer this year a yield of 5.6%and a next rise at 6.1%. Unipol also stands out among insurance with a 5% coupon and estimates on up to 5.6%. The prospects are also interesting for the technological sector, represented by Nexi, and for luxury, with Moncler which will instead offer a relatively low coupon (2.2% lo Yield) This year, but Barclays analysts, while reducing the price target from 64 to 63 euros, confirmed the brand’s solidity and the ability of the title to successfully cross the current complex economic scenario. The key to reading, according to analysts, remains that of selectivity: in a market that remains volatile, focusing on companies with solid budgets, positive cash flows and sustainable dividends offers investors a strategy that combines protection and performance in the medium-long term. The Dividend Day It is therefore not only an opportunity to collect generous coupons, but also a crucial moment to review and strengthen its investment strategy in view of the future.
