Swiss animal welfare: The old guard is fighting for beauty queen

The reforms in animal welfare threaten to fail, as well as the election of Peter V. Kunz as the new president. And because of a dispute over expensive videos of ex-Miss-Switzerland Lolita Morena.

Lolita Morena has long been committed to Swiss animal welfare – and is well paid for it.

In the past few months it is actually well with crisis -shaken Swiss animal welfare (STS). The new managing director Marco Mettler professionalizes day -to -day business. Right -wing expert Peter V. Kunz heads an investigation commission that processes financial irregularities.

The board has passed a new business regulations that avoids conflicts of interest. And a reform group under the Basel lawyer Jascha Schneider-Marfels wrote new statutes, which give the sections more skills and contain a limit of term. Due to the many positive developments, the Zewo took the club from the black list last November 2024, with which it warns of donations to non -transparent organizations.

The aim of the profound reforms is a new beginning: The favorite economy and office accumulation practiced under the long -standing Presidium of Heinz Lienhard is to be stopped. Peter V. Kunz also wants to worry, busy cat friend, renowned professor of commercial law and specialist for corporate governance: he runs as a new president and is to be elected at the extraordinary assembly of delegates from Saturday.

West Swiss threaten to block Peter V. Kunz's election

But now another conflict has escalated that endangers the reform course. The central board of directors is « exerted considerable pressure » in a newsletter on Wednesday to all STS sections that this editorial team has: Individual sections of West Switzerland would have announced that they would disrupt the assembly of delegates, to block Peter V. Kunz's election and to prevent the urgently needed state reform « .

At the center of the conflict is the former “Miss Switzerland” Lolita Morena (65), who has been on the board for seventeen years and has collected hundreds of thousands of Franconia for communication services, international trips and expenses.

For years, Morena had created hand -knitted videos about animal shelters and run -up animals in western Switzerland. The beauty was not only supported by long -time President Heinz Lienhard (88), who still sits together with her in several foundations, but also by the current interim president Piero Mazzoleni (74), who again praised Morena's commitment and love for animals this week.

40 videos for CHF 200,000

In the transition period after his turbulent election in January 2024, the Ticino signed a new contract with Morena, for which she was supposed to create forty videos from ten to twenty minutes – for over 200,000 francs per year. The new board terminated the contract immediately. But Morena didn't want to put up with it.

She offered her retreat from the board and in return presented a new draft contract, which in turn included a six -digit total, as the office confirms.

Despite attempts to print, the central board on a crisis meeting on Tuesday evening « unanimously rejected the proposal, since the required amount appears inappropriate in view of the financial situation, » the office writes on request. Instead, Morena was « offered a small hourly mandate for recruiting board members and the information exchange with the sections in French -speaking Switzerland ». This obviously was not satisfied with that.

Morena speaks of « defamatory attacks »

Lolita Morena herself was unavailable for a statement. She sold her property in Valais last year and moved to Italy. In an urgent « communiqué » on Wednesday evening to the sections, she criticizes the internal newsletter of the central board to the sections and incorrectly describes them as « press release ».

She complains about « defamatory attacks » and that her « Toudou » television programs « had been canceled »: « Many sections expressed their disappointment about the hiring of this program, which enabled them to present their activities (…). » With a new launch you could have « soothed the sections of Romandy ».

It is to be seen whether they will actually defend themselves against reforms on Saturday for solidarity with Lolita Morena. The change in the statutes requires a two -thirds majority.

One thing is certain, on the other hand, that the Basel public prosecutor's criminal investigation is in full swing. After several interrogations, the dossier already comprises hundreds of pages and focuses on dubious real estate transactions. The “Swiss animal welfare” is involved as a private plaintiff in the proceedings in order to claim any claims for damages.
