The copies are on the table and the brains bubble. For 8 hours, more than 530,000 high school students have started The writings of the bac with philosophy. Terminale students – 386 135 for the general baccalaureate and 145,930 for the technological bac, according to the latest figures from the Ministry of Education – work on one of the three philosophy subjects: two dissertations and a text commentary.
The various candidates in the general sector thus had the choice between the following subjects: « Does our future depend on the technique? » And « Is the truth always convincing? » Regarding the text commentary, the future baccalaureate holders had to look into an extract from the Justice Theory by John Rawls, from 1971, on democracy and equal treatment of citizens.
On the side of candidates in the technological sector, high school students received: « Are we free in all circumstances? » And « Do we need art? » Another possible choice: turn to the comment of an extract from Theory of moral feelings written by Adam Smith in 1789.
The philosophy test has a coefficient of eight for candidates for the general baccalaureate, and four for candidates for the technological bac, out of a total of 100. Also, Since a 2019 reform, The BAC note rests 40 % on continuous control and 60 % on so -called terminal events (written and oral French, passed in first class, specialty tests, philosophy and great oral in terminal).
« This is the beginning of an intense week, commented the Minister of National Education, Elisabeth Borne, who came to encourage students from Buffon high school in Paris. Because after the traditional philosophy test, those of specialties, the two major subjects chosen by each high school student in the final year, will continue from Tuesday to Thursday. The high school students of the general and technological way will then pass the Grand Oral between Monday, June 23 and Wednesday, July 2.
The results of the bac, which remain the essential sesame to pursue higher education, will be published on July 4. But many high school students are already experiencing their orientation for next year, because Parcoursup has been giving their answers to future students since June 2. The success rate has exceeded 80 %since 2012. Last year, it was 91.2 %, up over one year in the three ways (general, technological and professional). In general, it was 95.9 %.
