Discover the best beaches in Albania
While a number of different range of mountains extend along the eastern side of Albania, its southwestern coast is the home of paradise beaches where the sun shines and tents offer the shadow needed for tourists, according to an article published in the Global CN Traveler magazine.
While its sandy beaches have been a secret, for a long time, compared to neighbors best known as Croatia and Greece, Albania is turning into a summer romance that you will never forget!
New Beach and Cold Water, near Vlora
These two beaches are gates to the Albanian Riviera – on its northern edge – and departing to the best beaches in Albania.
Vlora, located just over 90 miles from the Albanian capital, Tirana, is a port city where Ionian and Adriatic seas meet and rocks extend along the coast.
The city attracts a number of tourists who find different beaches and atmospheres for every taste.
If you are looking for a vibrant holiday atmosphere, you are waiting for bars on the new beach.
If you prefer a quieter resort, then head to more isolated cold water.
Llaman, in Himara
Himara, another village in Riviera offers two different atmospheres. In addition to being a popular beach resort, there is a quiet village where life has long been going on, with fishermen gathering in traditional taverns after a day of fishing at sea.
It is a reflection of Albania’s best beaches – open to international tourists, but not forgetting its roots.
The best place to enjoy the sun and sea near Himara is in Llaman, a very popular beach by locals.
Located between the two hills, this pebble harbor is the ideal place to rest.
Sarande
The large tourism center in the Albanian Riviera, Saranda, is also one of the most popular destinations in the Balkans with an atmosphere that often feels similar to what is found in many Mediterranean resorts of Spain.
The city is experiencing a construction boom and the post -sea hills are filled with hotels and apartment buildings in the construction process.
Bouquet
Buneci, in Saranda draws with the light lights and the festive atmosphere of his southern neighbor. However, those who will choose to spend a few days in Bunec will find an almost deserted beach with white pebbles that is as beautiful as any other beach near Saranda.
While it has a basic tourist infrastructure, this coastal village remains relatively underdeveloped. There are some traditional cafes and a hotel, but you will still be able to hear the sound of the waves.
The islands of Ksamil
If we had to compile a list of the best destinations of the beaches of Albania, the islands of Ksamil would be at least among the first three, if not in the first place.
This archipelago, 12 miles from Saranda, is more than just a postcard image.
The atmosphere gives you the feeling of being in a dream: four wooded islands in the middle of an amazing sea of turquoise waters.
As you look at the horizon, you will see a number of other islands that look close to you would like to touch them!
Dhermi
Although his name may not be known to those who have not yet visited Albania, Dhermi is one of the most popular beaches in the country.
Formerly a secret guarded by locals, today this urban beach is also one of the largest in Albania – nor will you find it difficult in mid -August to find a space to lay the towel.
Adventurous spirits will also want to explore the nearby limaners and caves, including Drymades, one of the few points that can rival Ksamil – considered Albania’s most beautiful beach.
Drymades
In Drymades, you will find fine sand, white pebble and centuries -old olive trees, but also colorful charts and tents, fashionable beach bars and a variety of accommodations – from modest bungalot to five -star hotels. It is considered the coolest beach in Albania.
Qeparo
Qeparo is one of the beaches under the radar and less visited in the Albanian Riviera.
This village has two rocks overlooking the Mediterranean and offers a stunning Instagram panorama, of course, without any filter.
While talking about the beaches of Albania, Qeparo’s beach manages to remain a secret. If you travel there, you can find out that you will not meet other tourists from beyond the region.
Gype
On the southern coast, near the village of Dukat, is a secret beach called Gjilek.
The pristine and without people atmosphere makes the access slightly complex, as it can only be reached by boat or walking for nearly half an hour – along a path that starts from the village of Gjilek and crosses the impressive canyon surrounding it, with high rocks and crystalline waters.
Grama Bay
Small and attractive, with fine white sand, Grama bay is hidden between steep rocks and surrounded by lush vegetation.
The easiest way to visit is from the sea given its remote and isolated location.
It offers exactly what you would like to find on your vacation on the Albanian beach, including the glittering turquoise waters of the Ionian Sea.
Do not miss ancient inscriptions on nearby rocks dating back to Roman and Greek periods.
Durres
Do not be afraid of the size of Durres, the second most populous city in Albania.
In addition to incorporating some popular Roman places, such as amphitheater and baths – it is blessed with a coastal stretch of about 6 miles long – where you can find a chaiselong and place your towel.
Borsh
Just over 4 miles of intact beach, just south of Qeparo, is Borshi.
Its dazzling beach is interrupted by rocks and harvesters on one of the country’s most dramatic coastal roads.
The beach, surprisingly one of the fewer visits to Albania – which is surrounded by olives and hills.
Borshi – who reflects the former Mediterranean, has managed to survive in his pure and intact state.
