Edmunds Valantis, State Secretary of the Ministry of Economy, participated in the solemn opening of the Baltic Pavilion; Lāsma Lidaka, General Commissioner General of Latvia’s EXPO 2025 Osaka; Zigmārs Zilgalvis, Latvian Ambassador to Japan; Lina Antanavičiene, Lithuanian EXPO 2025 Osaka General Commissioner, Aurelia Zyk, Lithuanian Ambassador to Japan and Arthur Anti, Baltic Pavilion Artist and Designer.
Edmunds Valantis, State Secretary of the Ministry of Economics: « Expo is a great opportunity to strengthen Latvia’s economic presence in Japan, the fourth largest economy in the world. In total, more than 250 Latvian exporting companies will be involved in the exhibition.
Visitors to the pavilion will be taken on a journey through the Baltic region, introducing the Baltic nature, culture and traditions, as well as the solutions created by Latvia and Lithuania for a better future. The Concept « We Are One » calls for everyone to be aware that everyone is part of this planet, which is both privileged and responsibility to protect it for future generations. To pay attention to this, the pavilion has a unique installation – an interactive glass wall that offers a retreat from the rapid digital world. The wall is named « Kizuna », which translates from Japanese to a close, emotional bond. The Kizuna wall highlights man and his bond with nature, other people, communities and nations. Unique wall technology creates a condensation effect, allowing everyone to leave the message on it. The report disappears within minutes, calling for each action and its impact on the planet.
Visitors to the pavilion can also view the « Natural Pharmacy », which exhibits around 300 Baltic meadow plants, as well as explains their unique properties and applications for improving health and quality of life. Similarly, everyone has the opportunity to symbolically participate in forest planting in the Baltics. Each digitally planted tree will actually be planted in Latvia and in Lithuania for this purpose in specially designed forests – Tērvete and Joniškis. There is also a digital catalog in the pavilion, where visitors can get acquainted with Latvian and Lithuanian companies who want to expand their export capacity in the Japanese market.
Lasma Lidaka, General Commissioner General of Latvia’s EXPO 2025 Osaka: “Although Latvia is the leading country in the Baltic Pavilion, I am proud that Latvia and Lithuania have combined their energy and creativity to encourage the world to think united. The contents of the pavilion are also unique in that it was not only created by artists and entrepreneurs, but also in the Baltic States and shows Latvia and Lithuania. If you want to go a long way – have to go together. ”
The Baltic Pavilion was formed by the Kettler Association of Persons, consisting of: SIA « Inspired », SIA « 7 AM », SIA « Variant Studio », SIA « Ozols IR », SIA « AD PRODUCTION » and SIA « Data Technology Group ». The author of the pavilion concept is Laura Slaviņa and the chief artist and designer is Arthur Analt.
