The prison system has started a disciplinary procedure for a few guards from the prison of Ypres. They made a video of a prisoner while it was unconscious in the hospital. VRT NWS reports this and is confirmed by the prison system to our editors.
When the prisoner had to undergo an operation in November of last year in the AZ Jan Yperman in Ypres, the two commanded Cipiers had been instructed to guard him. The two guards found no better than making a video in which they comment on their « boring » assignment and make jokes and comments. In addition, the prisoner, who was waking up in his hospital bed in bare, also came into the picture. The video would then have ended up with a third jailer of the Ypres prison.
Although the facts date from last fall, the local and regional management was not informed of the « unprofessional behavior » of the guards until March of this year, reports spokeswoman Kathleen of the pond of the prison system. The guards in question have been given a question to account, after which the head of the prison will continue the disciplinary investigation.
