Director of the Narv Museum Maria Smorzhevsky-Smirnova received the title of « European of the Year »
This year, the director of the Narv Museum, Maria Smorzhevsky-Smirnova, was awarded the honorary title of “European”.
This title was assigned to Smorzhevsky-Smirnova for her work and activities, she defends European values in Narva and Ida-Virumaa and actively speaks out on socially significant issues, writes Err.
Smorzhevsky-Smirnova organized a number of exhibitions and shares in the Narv Museum, which caused an ambiguous reaction in the local community. In particular, under her leadership, an exhibition dedicated to the Soviet bombing of Narva during the Second World War was organized, and on the night of May 9, a poster was posted on the wall of the Narva fortress, equating the President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin to the leader of Nazi Germany Adolf Hitler and calling him a military criminal. The Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation since the summer of 2024 introduced Smorzhevsky-Smirnov on the list of wanted persons.
