Director of the movie ‘Rust’: I wish I had never even written it!

– I didn’t grow up surrounded by weapons and I don’t like that culture. My weapon is disgusted. The very thought of touching it, lifting it up, is very repulsive to me, ”the director said. He was injured on the set. The cameraman was transported to the hospital with a helicopter and an ambulance car.

« I know I could breathe, but I didn’t know what to expect until I came to the hospital, » he said.

And after the shooting, another difficult period followed. The culprit was sought for the death of cinematographers, criminal charges were filed, and because of all, Alec Baldwin also found himself in court, but last year he was acquitted.

Nehaj, however, was convicted of the props by Hannah Gutierrez-Reed, who was sentenced to 18 months in prison. Assistant director, Dave Halls, accepted the settlement and condemned him for negligent use of firearms.

Regardless of the great tragedy, the movie shooting continued more than a year after the death of the cameraman.

– The family wanted us to finish it. The thought of my return was repulsive … But I couldn’t live with the idea that someone else was working on film, ”Souza explained. Baldwin returned to the set, and the movie will soon be released and contains scenes filmed by Hutchins.

In an interview, Souza also said that he had no special relationship with Baldwin, that they were not friends, but they were not enemies either. He said similarly to the props, which was ultimately sentenced to prison.

– I think we talked several times at first. She seemed kind enough. I just feel terrible about everyone. One cannot enjoy that someone is going to jail, ”he said, adding, » I wish I had never written that damn movie.  »
