A short chase ended on Saturday evening with an accident on Albrechtlaan in Aalst. A driver ignored a police check shortly before and fled. The driver was arrested afterwards.
The Aalst police had caught on Saturday evening on the Brussels Steenweg for a so-called Goliath promotion. « In addition, vehicles are mainly checked for stolen goods, » explains Mayor Christoph d’Haese (N-VA). « A driver noticed control, but immediately fled. » The police then applied, but it was short -lived. « It went wrong at Albrechtlaan and it came to an accident. Neither the police vehicle or others were involved. » In the accident, no one was also injured.
For the time being it is unclear why the man fled. « That will now be investigated, » says the Aalst mayor. « The driver was arrested to answer for the facts. Stolen goods were not found in the vehicle. The man may be withdrawn his driver’s license. Such driving behavior cannot be tolerated. The chance is therefore that the driver will later have to answer for this in the police court, » concludes D’haese. (BSB)
