Director (39) who drove cyclist (59) to death, released under certain conditions: « works well in the study » (Zelzate)

The 39-year-old driver who hit a cyclist on Saturday morning under the influence of alcohol and drugs, and without a valid driver’s license, was released on Sunday under certain conditions. The cyclist (59) did not survive the accident.
In a major accident on the R4 in Zelzate, a cyclist (59) died on Saturday morning, at half past four. The man was on his way home and just had a shift at work.
The incident occurred at the Kanaalstraat intersection with the Emiel Caluslaan in Zelzate. The driver fled, but the police come to grasp him shortly after the accident. Further research showed that he was driving under the influence of alcohol and drugs and had no valid driver’s license.
The driver, a 39-year-old man from Zelzate, was arrested and brought before the investigating judge in Ghent on Sunday morning. « He decided to release him under certain conditions because he cooperates very well in the investigation, » said the Public Prosecutor’s Office East Flanders.
Given the circumstances of the accident are still unclear, an autopsy on the victim’s body happened on Saturday evening. Those results are being processed and are not yet known.
