Leuven/Tienen/Boutersem

A 21-year-old man from Tienen has had to issue his driver’s license after he is caught with a glass too much behind the wheel. Striking: when the man saw the police, he changed position with his passenger (19).

A patrol from the Leuven police noted a vehicle in the Minderbroederstraat shortly after five hours, which drove too fast. The agents set up their flashing light and went after the car to manage the driver to the side. The car then swallowed a few times from left to right, to finally come to a halt on the breakdown.

Behind the wheel was a 19-year-old man from Boutersem, with a 21-year-old man from Tienen next to him. « Neither of the passengers could present a driver’s license or other identity document. A breath test showed that the driver had drunk a little too much. He was transferred to the Commissariat, » the police said.

Cameras

Research showed that the 19-year-old man only had a provisional driver’s license and was therefore not allowed to drive at that time. During the procedure with the police, he suddenly stated that his 21-year-old friend was the real driver. Just before they were stopped, they were quickly changed.

« Indeed, checking the cameras shows that the passenger was behind the wheel of the car, when the car in the city was noticed by the patrol. The Bruuske movements and the swallowing the car just before it went to the side was a consequence of the driver’s change, » the police said.

In the meantime, the man from Tienen was on the commissariat and took a positive alcohol test there. He too had to give up his driver’s license temporarily. The duo will later have to answer for the police judge. (Johe)
