DIP about the violation of election silence: three types of complaints have arrived …

On Saturday, on the eve of the election Sunday, when voters decide on their local government for the next four years, three groups of complaints about violated election silence, which has been in force from midnight, have reached the State Election Commission (DIP). These complaints are concerned with posts on social networks and portals and sending unwanted SMS messages to citizens, a member and spokesman of the DIP said on Saturday Slaven Hoj.

Citizens, he specified, complain that, while the election silence lasts, on some profiles on social networks, they publish the statuses of promotional character and that citizens and candidates do so. Several applications have also arrived that some portals, after being banned from election promotion at midnight, left facilities that should not be there on the front pages.

Citizens have also complained about unwanted SMS messages. We asked them to deliver us the phone number from which the message was sent so we could report to HAKOM to block that number, Hojski said. These are three groups of complaints that have reached the DIP, but given that the local elections are held in 576 units, it is difficult to know exactly what is happening on the field, Hojski notes and points to the competent, lower committee, especially those in big cities, for more accurate information.

Citizens call, to report to the Election of Election Silences in accordance with the earlier instructions of the Election of Election, the municipal, city and county election commissions and the Zagreb Election Commission, whose contact data was published on the DIP website. The election silence lasts all Saturday and Sunday until 7 pm, ie until the pollution of polling stations.

The State Election Commission (DIP) earlier invited all participants of the election, but also citizens and the media to respect silence, especially since the high fines were prescribed for its violation.

They range from 398 euros for a natural person to 66,361 euro for a legal, such as a political party that violates silence. The responsible person in a legal entity and candidates may be punished from 1327 to 3981 euros. Misdemeanor courts express fines.

In addition to being a day of election silence, Saturday is also the day when polling stations are set up for tomorrow’s elections where 6600 will open their doors.
