Dino Merlin released a new album after more than ten
After more than ten years of impatient anticipation across the region, one of the largest songwriters of these areas releases the new record album ‘We’. Sarajevo music wizard Dino Merlin Missfully, carefully and in silence, as always, in introspection with his own stripped emotions and spiritual challenges with the world that surrounds us, he has completed a new artistic journey of his own heart.
The intimate lyrics that encroach on the most softened corners of his soul, he sang and tamed his life’s true story, sharing joy, sadness, care, memory, religion, communion, hope and struggle with his audience.
– This is my 12th album. It is special in the fact that he has cried for a long time ‘from objective and subjective circumstances. It took a little more time because of everything that was happening in the last 5, 7 years to bring this story to the end. And when something long crunch, you have the opportunity to constantly check where you are along the way, how much is worth what you do. You are a little older, maybe a little wiser, so you do not give attention to those transient things like the current fashion, but you have the opportunity to feel the flow of time through your songs and when something lasts five, six, or seven years, then there is a high likelihood that it will last for another ten years and to withstand that court of time – said Dino Merlin on the eve of the album.
And his musical story, is the story of all of us – about love loves, wounds they heal, about people we don’t forget. The album is it that comes at the right time, as a reminder of what binds us and holds us together. It is a unique audio-visual edition that again moves the boundaries of music production in our region.
The album was announced in 2020 hit the single « We », which became a symbol of community in a time of global uncertainty. In the years that followed, this songwriter revealed to the audience the fragments of his great mosaic « Come », « One Day, One Night », « Wrong Tickets », « How to Tell You », « Almost Winter » and « We don’t look forward to », building a layer by a layer of narrative that now finally rounds out the publication of complete material.
This Deluxe edition brings a total of 18 songs – 11 brand new ones with 7 singles already released. Each song is a special story, and together they make a diary for a decade – stories based on universal topics of love, transience and affiliation.
A special gem of the album is a duet « year hot » with Halid Beslica historic meeting of two music legends of our time. Two authentic votes, two style -shaped generations, were finally connected in the song and testify to Merlin’s skill to combine epochs and genres, creating a unique sound that does not know the boundaries.
In addition to already known collaborations with Senidah and Mark LouisMerlin confirms its ability to connect generations and styles, always remaining faithful to itself – and yet constantly new. The new album « We » is not only his personal confession, but also the bridge between the past, the present and the future.
For the first time in his career, Sarajevo artist Dino Merlin gives every song the album a visual dimension -« We » is also an audio -a visual treat because he directs the Slovenian -Macedonian artist Kukla whose film miniatures connect Merlin’s lyrics with paintings that remain engraved in memory. The album is also available as a 48-minute video flowing through songs, turning them into a number of strong, symbolic images.
With its production range, « we » goes beyond the framework of the usual regional standard. Behind complex production is many years of work in music studios around the world – from BiH and countries of the region (Croatia, Serbia, Slovenia), Italy, Turkey, through Sweden and the United Kingdom, to the United States of America. This global diversity, combined with Merlin’s authentic poetic vision, has resulted in a sound that is at the same time locally rooted and universally recognizable.
So far released singles that have been announced by a new album have over 100 million YouTube views, and today the whole album is available on YouTube and all other streaming services. For many, « We » is more than an album – it is a collection of stories, emotions, portraits and paths, which together make one big for me, providing the audience the opportunity to immerse yourself in the world that the music wizard Dino Merlin has created for almost 10 years.
– Through the songs, I’m telling stories. If someone finds parts of their destiny in them – the better. The topic that touches me completely overwhelms me and cannot be separated from it. The songs that make the souls so emerge, and then unconsciously go to the paths that I traveled, ”said the unattainable Sarajevo music wizard ahead of the album promotion, especially announcing for Croatian fans on July 19th, a major concert in Split.
