A suspicious package was found on Wednesday on the site of Wapenbedrijf OIP in Oudenaarde. Dovo Dovo came to the company, which is a subsidiary of the Israeli arms manufacturer Elbit Systems, and used a robot to let the package explode. In the end it turned out not to be a bomb package.

« We were notified of a suspicious package that was delivered to OIP with the post, » says Joost Duhamel, sone chief of the Flemish Ardennes police. « We immediately sent intervention teams on the spot. The package was insulated and not to take any risks, a safe perimeter was set pending DOVO. An official report is drawn up. »

Initially it was reported that the company had to be evacuated, but Duhamel stated that it did not happen in the end. « It was considered that the staff rooms are at a safe distance. The staff were asked to stay inside. »

Dovo Dovo came to the scene and used a robot to explode the package. In the end it turned out not to be a bomb package. The business site was released again, after which the staff could go home. The incident is further investigated by the police.

It is the second time in a few months that a suspicious package is found at OIP. A powder letter was found on November 14 last year, although nothing turned out to be wrong after research. The company was, because it is a subsidiary of the Israeli weapon manufacturer Elbit Systems, has been targeted several times by Pro-Palestinian activists.
