Died legendary sailor, the first Slovenian to sail the world with a sailboat
He died Jože Mušič (1935–2025), sailor, master of photography, filmmaker, traveler and versatile athlete, said Didakta today. Mušič is considered a Slovenian sailing legend. He was the first Slovene to turn the world from 1988 to 1990. He turned 90 in early January.
His untamed love for the sea took him into explorations and adventures that went far beyond the horizon.
His youth has been imbued with numerous sports activities, from mountaineering, skiing and flying dragons to kayaking down the wild waters. He paddled in Skif, skied on water, surfing, engaged in underwater fishing and diving in sea depths.
In some places the first visitor
As a sailor, he visited the most precisely corners of the world, villages and islands, where no large ship or plane lands. « In some islands he was even the first foreigner to enter the village there, » Didakta wrote.
As an author and translator, he shared his experience, knowledge and passion for sailing in numerous books, such as wind tunes: sails around the world, gold waves, Mayday, with a sailboat around the world, a long way across the oceans.
In addition to writing, he was also a photographer and filmmaker who captured many moments of his travels with his lens. His photographs, films and numerous lectures were impressed by the lovers of the sea and adventures and inspired new generations of sailors and researchers.
