Died former secretary and director of DVK Marko Golobic

The former longtime secretary and director of the National Electoral Commission (DVK) died Marko Golobicwho has watched over the election processes in the country for over two decades. Golobic’s funeral will be held on Friday at 4.30pm in Ljubljana Žale.

Golobic is best known to the Slovenian public for his role in the implementation of all electoral processes in the country, which he initially performed within the Republican Electoral Commission and then DVK.

In one of the interviews for Work He said he was always interested in elections as a process. “No, who wins, but that they are done correctly.” As he asserted, he adhered to the standards and never accused him of being occupied by the elections.

“I think, over time, a sufficiently great confidence has been established between electoral authorities and political parties. Sometimes, most notably during the 1992 elections, it was terribly polarized and there was a lot of suspicion of one another, but gradually decreased, « he said at the 2011 function.

The post of secretary of the Republican Electoral Commission has been held since 1990 by Golobic. Even before that, in 1989 he participated in the implementation of the elections for a member of the SFRY Presidency from Slovenia, and in the same year he also participated in the Assembly Legislative and Legal Commission under the leadership Toneta Jerovšek, which was preparing a new electoral law.

He ran the DVK service until 2011, when he was succeeded in directorship Dušan Vučko.
