DFB Cup: draw in the DFB Cup: Leverkusen travels to Bielefeld
Defending champion Bayer Leverkusen meets third division Arminia Bielefeld in the semi-finals of the DFB Cup. The double winner of the pre-season competes as a home-high favorite at the East Westphalia, who have already thrown three Bundesliga clubs out of competition this season. In the second semi -finals, runner -up VfB Stuttgart welcomes the league rival RB Leipzig. This was the result of the draw in the football museum in Dortmund, in which the former international and Schalke professional Gerald Asamoah pulled the balls.
« There were three relatively difficult tasks that could come, and Leverkusen may even have been the most difficult, » said sports manager Michael Mutzel in the ARD: « Nevertheless, we are of course really happy to welcome the Doubles winner here and are already really in the game and the evening and look forward to Leverkusen. »
The two semi -finals take place on April 1 and 2. The final will be held on May 24th in the Berlin Olympic Stadium.
The largest outsider in the semi-final field is undoubtedly Bielefeld. If the favorite fright on the home Alm also beats sensationally Leverkusen, the Arminia would be the first third division club in the final since the 1st FC Union Berlin 2001. (Dpa)
