Details of the serious incident in Gjirokastra. The 17-year-old had warned his friends about the act

A serious incident today shocked the Gjirokastra community, where a 17-year-old man was found with no signs of life in his apartment in the village of Valare on Sunday, April 20.

The young man, Vehip Peci, a student of the Siri Shaplo Gymnasium, has ended his life through self -dependence.

The incident happened around 1:30 pm, when he was urgently transported by family members to the Gjirokastra Regional Hospital, but doctors confirmed that the young man had died before arrival.

Family sources suggest that the 17-year-old was going through a difficult psychological period. He had shown signs of isolation and melancholy, however, he was not under regular medical treatment. Experts had suggested specialized interventions, but the signals appear to have been taken seriously.

Wipri had warned the tragic act by confessing some of his closest friends. While in the apartment there are also some notes, apologizing to parents, teachers, psychologist who treated him and friends about the concerns he thought he had caused.

He lived in the village of Valar with his mother and two younger sisters, while his father worked as a chef on a boat in Greece and was often away from his family for long periods.

Police have seized the phone left notes and some personal items, while starting interrogation of peers and school staff to help uncover the motive of the event. Investigators are pursuing some leads, including the possibility of a religious influence, though this is not considered a major runway at the moment.

The event comes just two months after the suicide of another 17-year-old, Irsa Meçollari, from the same school. So far, the police have not found any direct links between the two cases, but are investigating whether there has been the same incentive or common impacts.

Vehip Peci was previously known as an active and communicative boy, with typical difficulties of age, but without history of bullism or extreme isolation from the school environment, making this tragedy remain even more inexplicable for the community.

The event has deeply shocked family, friends and the entire local community as it raises another alarm for adolescent mental health and urgent need for systematic support and timely intervention.
