Details of the bizarre accident in Istria: ‘The young man fell on the car of our ambulance. We stayed in shock … ‘

Incredible and at least a bizarre accident occurred on Sunday around 4 pm in Rovinj. A team of ambulance arrived at the address on Pauleticeva Street as the health of a seriously ill patient was deteriorating. And at the moment when the lady was taking care and preparing for departure, a minor (16) was shaking on the ambulance. Namely, he fell from the fourth floor of the building.

The young man ended up in a hospital in Pula, and as the director of the Pula General Hospital himself explained, Dr. Andrej Angelina, the young man was actually very fortunate in this accident because he only sustained a ‘earthquake of brain and superficial injury.

– The event is quite amazing. It all happened at Pauletic Street in Rovinj on April 13 at 15.55. We received a call for an emergency medical intervention of the Rovinj team because the health of a seriously ill patient from the fifth floor was deteriorating. It was the intervention of a ‘red code’, which means that the person was life -threatening and had to act quickly. During the care of the patient and her preparation for transport, a 16-year-old young man from the fourth floor occurred. He fell to the front of the ambulance – in the breath was told by the head of the Emergency Medicine of Istria County, Dr. Tatjana Čemerikić, who never encountered a similar situation in her thirty -year career in an emergency room.

She pointed out that the emergency driver was just going to go for a portable chair when he heard a strong blow. The windshield was completely broken and the emergency room was no longer in the fleet. Because of this, they invited two more cars – one to transport the young man and the other to transport the lady to whom they originally came.

– The Rovinj team that was already there, immediately responded and started to take care of the minor. At the scene of the accident. He was conscious, but he got a blow to the head and that mechanism of injury was very difficult. It is a fall from a high height. They immobilized it, supplied with analgesics and everything that was necessary at that moment, in accordance with medical regulations. Considering that at that moment, two people needed an emergency medical attention, teams from Pazin and Pula were called. The Pazin team took over a life -threatening patient and drove to the hospital, and a team of minors with injuries in Pula. The vehicle that the young man fell could no longer drive. But on the side, it is important that two people were saved and transported to the hospital – explained Dr. Cemerikic’s details

The director of the Pula hospital, Dr. Angelini, said that the young man, fortunately, was not life -threatening, and no surgery was needed. The locals of Rovinj who heard of the incredible case say that it is all a miracle.

– The young man was transferred from anesthesia to the surgery department and not life -threatening. There was no need for surgery or planned. A day or two will be still in the hospital with us and if everything is fine will be released home. Complete processing was made according to the protocol and it was found that he had sustained a brain earthquake and nothing else, and a few other tiny wounds that were taken care of at admission. It was happiness in the accident and the juvenile went well – said Dr. Angelina.

The driver who was in the vehicle at the time of the young man’s fall is shocked.

– There was really everything in his long career, but I have never experienced something like this. When you say you have seen everything in life, you are not, because there is always something that is completely shocked. It is extremely important to say that two ‘red code’ have been successfully solved – Dr. Cemerikic concluded.
