« I think the alleged project management should take some kind of beginner course in project management, » said Hildur Sverrisdóttir, MP for the Independence Party, in parliament earlier today in a debate on the presidential meeting.

There, the opposition criticized the government’s issues that are now being received in parliament when a parliamentary closure is supported.

Hildur mentioned that when almost ten days are for parliamentary closures, there is still a big issue in parliament in the 1st debate. Cases that, according to Hildur, could have been presented earlier or waited for later times.

She pointed out that issues that are presented to parliament need to receive three discussions and committee work. Then time would have to be enough, especially for the opposition to ask questions and take a debate that would be her democratic task.

« This is the majority and the highest government just plans to strike, » the MP said.

« Here are still new issues, despite the fact that the parliament is all in a complete screw with all the issues that have not been finalized. »

Then she urged the President of Parliament to request that the government would prioritize its life in a better way.

Difficult and big deal

Ingibjörg Isaksen, MP for the Progressive Party, Karl Gauti Hjaltason, MP for the Central Party, and Guðrún Hafsteinsdóttir, chairman of the Independence Party, took the same string as Hildur when they spoke.

Ingibjörg said it was undeniable that in the last days of parliament, new issues were being received that would have to go into a review process that usually takes about two weeks.

Then Karl Gauti said that it was « difficult and big issues » and that only eight parliamentary days were for parliamentary closures.

« So I ask Mrs. President how to finish this here in these few days?

« With odds »

« I would like to agree with those who have spoken here today under this item about the presidential meeting. It is with all the odds how late matters are coming to parliament and huge issues that directly affect every Icelander, » said the chairman of the Independence Party, Guðrún Hafsteinsdóttir.

It also urged the government to prioritize its issues better and come to a conversation with the opposition if the aim was to finish the case before the end of parliament.

Cases may be completed in 80 days

« Now I just come up here to please the parliamentary world beautiful, beautiful, good and high-spirited, » said Inga Zealand, Minister of Social Affairs and Housing, as she spoke.

«  » It is certainly not the same as it is after eight days of this session, even though the agenda states it now, as there is quite a difference between how every high -ranking MP comes here and steps in the pulpit of parliament, as if days, I don’t know how many days, « the minister said.

At the same time, she said it was gratifying to hear that MPs were willing to work on the issues this summer, but, however, directed her words to the opposition, which the minister accused of delaying the democratic handling of matters in parliament.

« This is a disgraceful progress towards the entire nation. »

« This always goes the same way »

Sigmar Guðmundsson, a member of the Tour, said it was not new that there were questions about when parliamentary work would end when the parliament was short.

« This is always the same. Of course, there is now a conversation between the board and the opposition on how to complete parliamentary work. If you need to stay longer in June, we will be longer in June. »

Sigmar said it was not new that a case sometimes comes late in parliament. He himself has delivered speeches in which he has been calling for announced cases from a government that has come sometime after cloth and disc.

However, the government and the opposition should be able to try to reach any agreement this week on how to finish parliamentary work.

« But one is the rule that we all have in mind; the smaller part or the opposition, its role is not to prevent the democratically elected majority from getting their issues in voting in the hall. »
