Desperate residents and weekenders of Krapanj: In the natural bay they want to build molles and tennis courts
This is unbearable. Krapanj is full of garbage on all sides, the leaders of the local committee ignore our demands to maintain a choir of citizens, and the city’s arbitrariness in the concretion of the island has reached a new peak, warning locals and longtime holiday homes on the island in the Šibenik Aquatoria.
The island known for its sponge turned to tourism, but there are about two hundred permanent residents on Krapanj, who have a lot of everything. The season has practically started, and at each step there are piles of garbage, construction waste, not mowed. Whoever contacts, no help anywhere. The last drop in the sea of problems is the latest attempt to reduce part of the coastal belt due to private interests.
According to the letter they sent to us, the embarrassing part of the coastal belt again changes, partly because of its private interests, and partly according to the mysterious decisions of the City of Šibenik, which residents do not know about, nor did the Local Board report them about it. Namely, these days, a private person’s request is in public debate to exclude one parcel in the island bay of Migrad from a 2009 maritime property.
The Šibenik-Knin County informed us that the Committee for the Borders of the Maritime Property was adopted if there would be no objection at a public debate, the border of the maritime domain will be moved in front of that plot towards the sea. It is a plot that made the border of the maritime domain in 2021, despite opposition to the inhabitants. Then everything is suspended, but the owners of the plot seems to have a large mol in addition to the open permit of the city.
Have already sought to move the border
And that is just part of the story of Migrad Bay on the western part of the island, which has been flooded several times. A few years ago, a natural shallows are flushed and an artificial elevated coast was made. At that time, the inhabitants were told that it was done so that the sea would not be floating the land. But now it is clear that it was just an introduction to serious changes in the coast.
This is how it all looked in 2021, when the tidal begging began:
Krapanj: The alleged owner of the terrain, which is buried under the sea, is a bay and a terrain of the terrain |
At the excerpt of the geoPortal, the visible JR construction of as many as six new mols, with the aforementioned private. As we checked, the City of Šibenik has already enrolled in the land registers of seven mols, which, when built, will enter the sea and change the natural coast. Although it is done by city land, it is clear intention to completely change part of the coast, and to turn the natural bay into a marina and space for new buildings, both public and private, which means further pollution of the sea and the creation of an even greater traffic maritime crowds on the already small island.
– After years of unlawful embankment and devastation of the coast with the support of local authorities, the public discussion of the movement of the maritime domain on the part of Kojnjan in front of cp no. 3523 moves the border of the maritime domain to allow the construction of the apartment on the plot of the controversial « garden », which was already enrolled in the area of the Maritime Property in 2021 – warned islanders and weekenders.
There is a main waterfront on the island. The islanders are announced that most berths will be intended for yachts, so everyone assumes that there will be berths for them in Mugrad. But no one can get any coherent information, they point out. This week, after months and months of insistence, was held because of the citizens of the island, but, they say, they did not find out anything new, except that the island would be mowed.
‘I don’t know anything about the request’
We contacted the President Krapanj Dalibor Garm Local Board. He told us that he did not know anything about the movement of the maritime domain, and was surprised by the information that the request was already in a public debate.
– I wasn’t directed at all at all, and that’s strange to me. Such requirements should go to the local committee first, but we know nothing. As for the aforementioned silence in Mugrad, it is a European project that runs the City of Šibenik and which includes the construction of two tennis courts. The shot is intended for the substrate and will be aligned by the summer, but the terrain will only be built next year because it is not financing – Garma tells us.
When asked why the island is unwavering and full of garbage, President MO Krapanj replies:
– Because of the local elections, we were a little ignored from the city. I told them we were a city too. But why did all those who rebel themselves not receive their jobs themselves? Here, I with my mower myself edited the lawn, why couldn’t others couldn’t do it.
The weekenders still warn:
– For the last few decades, we have witnessed almost complete absence of effective supervision over the illegal embankment of the sea and the coast, which has led to serious consequences. Since the 1980s to the present, the coastal line has been shifted artificially in many places on the island of Krapanj, often without any permits or sanctions. The profession cites alarming data: According to the analysis of prof. Carević and associates, from 1968 to the present, the area of the plowing sea along the coast increased by as much as 19.6% of the maritime domain.
All this, they point out, leads to a permanent loss of part of the sea space and natural beaches, all under the guilty of « refining » or beaches. Recall, this is one of the smallest and lowest inhabited island in the Adriatic. As they further warn, these interventions are not in accordance with the principle of preserving the maritime domain, because according to the Maritime Good Act, the lands of the maritime property remains, regardless of the legality of the works. In doing so, the institutions did not generally act in accordance with this principle, or in general in accordance with the law.
– The embankment took place « without control and valid documentation » with the support of the Krapanj Local Board, and the competent services remained powerless or inactive. The consequence is that many investors (including local authorities) have realized that they can embarrass the sea for their own interests. Moreover, so far legal solutions have virtually encouraged such behavior. The Decree on the Borders of the Maritime Good almost sent a « public invitation to everyone to insult the sea illegally », since there are no consequences, deadlines or real inspection supervision in practice. The illegally stranded terrain in the end is mostly recorded as a maritime property, without punishment for the perpetrators – only enough « brave and imaginative » should be enough – they conclude.
