Deputy Mayor of Porto submits a complaint of aggression against the leader of Pedro Duarte’s candidacy

The deputy mayor of Porto, and independent candidate in the next local elections, filed a complaint to the police against Rui Moreira’s former chief of staff and currently responsible for communicating the PSD candidacy.

Filipe Araújo claims that Vasco Ribeiro approached and assaulted on Thursday night at the Primavera Sound Festival, taking place in Porto.

“During the event, Vasco Ribeiro approached Filipe Araújo, starting a conversation. Suddenly and violently, grabbed the candidate and gave him a punch in his face, followed by the launch of a glass. As a result of aggression, Filipe Araújo suffered abrasions in the face,” reads in a statement of the independent movement to do Porto.

“12 years ago I dedicated myself daily to Porto and I had never watched such behavior. I will not let me condition for anything or anyone. I will continue to stand, with the same determination as usual, working for the port and the Portuenses,” says Filipe Araújo, cited in the same statement.

Vasco Ribeiro has also reacted and, in a shared publication on social networks, confirms an altercation, but denies and repudiates “categorically” the accusation of “free aggression” to Filipe Araújo. And guaranteed that what happened is not related to the candidacies of Filipe Araújo or Pedro Duarte, however, presented the resignation of the board of the PSD candidate campaign to Porto.

“What happened the night before, and of which I am not proud, was a heated discussion around an old subject related to my departure from Porto City Hall, which degenerated in insults and pushes from side to side,” reads Vasco Ribeiro’s publication.

« Although this episode has nothing to do with the candidacy of Eng. Filipe Araújo and Dr. Pedro Duarte, I understood, by sense of responsibility, to resign from the campaign direction. More inform I will submit a complaint for the aggressions that I was targeted, » he adds.
