Carl S., the 71-year-old dentist from Wilrijk who is suspected of sex offenses, remains locked up in prison. The council chamber extended its arrest on Tuesday by one month. In the meantime, 55 victims already came into the picture in the investigation, between 1998 and now.

The 71-year-old Carl S. was a renowned dentist, apart from his own practice, S. also worked in hospitals and was involved in various trade unions. At the beginning of April he was arrested by the investigating judge on suspicion of sex offenses. A patient had filed a complaint after unauthorized treatments. The examination had shown that dentist S. had a throat fetish. He would have masturbated while performing ‘throat displacing’, a non -existent treatment. Images of child abuse were also found on his computer.

« In addition to so -called throat disinfections, victims also speak of anal and vaginal examinations, touching breasts and buttocks and masturbation in the presence of patients. Some patients were treated under full anesthesia and fear that they have fallen victim to that way. That will be further investigated, » says Aerts. After a call by the police and the public prosecutor, 55 victims have meanwhile reported, women who were patients of S. between 1998 and now. They are all interrogated.

The dentist has been in jail since the beginning of April, he appeared before the council chamber on Tuesday. « I can only confirm that my client is arrested in prison, » responds his lawyer John Maes. Maes did not want to say anything about how the dentist responds to the suspicion and whether he has known the facts or not. « I will discuss with my client whether we will appeal against the decision of the council chamber, » said the lawyer.
