Democratic rights do not belong to untruths

In Delo it is in its column Luka Lisjak Gabrijelčič published its negative position to a statue/monument John Stanovnikwhich was erected in Nova Gorica in 2022. The democratic right of Lisjak Gabrijelčič is that he has a negative position. It may also be expected given that Janez Stanovnik has been in a politically exposed function in the last period of his life. He was president (2003-2013) and then Honorary President (2013-2020) of the Association of Fighters’ Association for the values of the NOB. Of course, democratic rights are not untruths used by Lisjak Gabrijelčič in the personal disqualification of Janez Stanovnik.

One of these is the claim that Janez was Stanovnik the apparatus of the system. My father spent most of his career in Geneva at one of the highest functions in the UN. He was the executive secretary of the UN Economic Commission for Europe. Lisjak Gabrijelčič should explain which system has in mind. Perhaps the United Nations system?

Another such « flower » is that Janez Stanovnik should not publish anything important in life. As a member of the First World Commission for the Environment and Development, these Brundtland Commission, Janez Stanovnik co -authored the United Nations on the environment, in which they introduced and justified the notion of Sustainable Development (translated as sustainable or sustainable development). The report is under the title Our Common Future In 1987, the Oxford University Press published.

Perhaps Lisjak Gabrijelčič heard of a reputable magazine Foreign Affairs. Janez Stanovnik is one of the few Slovenian authors with posts in this magazine.

With regard to the professional and scientific fields of Janez Stanovnik, the books of the Council in Debt and the International Monetary Fund (1985), the international economic system – from domination to equality (1983), the country in development in the global economy (1965) and the structural troubles of the world (1961), which were translated and published by several foreign publishes. For this his scientific work he received one Kidric Prize and two Fund Awards Boris Kidric. For those who do not know, let me say that Kidric awards are equivalent to today’s Zois awards. So much for the « irrelevance » of John Stanovnik.

Considering the political, non -archmented and untrue records of Lisjak Gabrijelčič, it would be the only appropriate cultural act by his side. Or maybe I expect too much?
