Zerkegem

Noël D. has recently been staying in prison again. His lawyer Pieterjan Dens confirms that. The council chamber decided at the end of February that the retired teacher was allowed to serve his custody with an ankle band at home, but after the referral the man who suffers from dementia – irrevocably flew in jail.

The Ghent Chamber of Accusation decided on Friday 2 May that D. was officially referred to the West Flanders Hof of Assisen. The defense was not shocked, but the fact that Noël D. immediately flew into prison again. Since the end of February, D. has traded in his cell for his sister’s house. The council chamber had decided to release the demented man under electronic supervision.

« This is not human, » says lawyer Pieterjan Dens. The defense regrets the decision, mainly due to the medical condition of the demented man.

Confession

Monika P. died on April 12, 2024 in her home in Zerkegem. When the police arrived and her lifeless body found in the seat, her husband Noël D. was sleeping upstairs. Initially, the circumstances of the death were unclear and D. was allowed to have after his interrogation. But the autopsy nevertheless pointed to a violent death. The woman is said to have been killed by twelve hammer layers and D. flew into prison.

The demented man confessed that he hit his wife on the head during a banal fight with a hammer, but in his own words it was not the intention to kill her.(CCA)
