Last week, Brussels Airport announced that the next Wednesday expects a major impact due to a manifestation of the trade unions, because a large number of security staff would participate. That is why the airport of Zaventem decided to cancel all departing passenger flights, so that part of the upcoming flights will also be lost.

Brussels Airlines now reports that it has canceled 85 percent of all its flights on 25 June. Thirty flights will continue: it mainly concerns recurring flights to Brussels. The changes, shortly before the start of the busy summer season, the company says it costs up to 4 million euros.

« Even before the flights were canceled, almost 70 percent of all travelers who had to leave from Brussels had found a solution, » says the airline. « Brussels Airlines had contacted all passengers in advance and offered the option to re -book or cancel, regardless of the ticket conditions. We have done this because we understand that travelers would like clarity as quickly as possible about their travel plans. »

This year, several strike actions had an impact on Zaventem airport. « We regret the inconvenience for our passengers, caused by the repeated manifestations, » says Brussels Airlines.

On 25 June, the trade unions in Brussels will again manifest against the policy of the De Wever government. For the first time, in addition to the socialist and Christian trade unions ABVV and ACV, the liberal ACLVB is also participating. For the sake of clarity, it is not about a national strike, although strike notes of employees who want to demonstrate with it do.

Charleroi airport also scraped all flights on 25 June.
