Decided: Momentum does not start in the 2026 elections
András Fekete-Győr, The founding president of Momentum, who had fallen into the failure of the 2022 pre-elections, suggested a few weeks ago that the party would not run for the elections in order to change the regime (that is, the replacement of Fidesz). He supported his proposal, albeit unanimously, but also to the president. However, the utterance of the final word was waiting for the assembly. This body eventually nodded at 69:54, representing the strong division within the party, representing the strong division within the party.
Black-Győr thus triumphs on Facebook:
« Official and final: Momentum Delegate Meeting also accepted my initiative, so that our party does not run for the 2026 election.
A month ago, I made an unexpected and unprecedented initiative for many to take on its historical responsibility and not to start the 2026 elections to succeed in the change of regime. To decide this, I initiated an extraordinary assembly at Momentum.
In recent months, I have increasingly experienced that Momentum has begun to depart from the path we have designated when founded. More and more people were dealing exclusively with the survival of the party, and fewer people asked the real questions: what happens to Hungary? What about the change of regime? What will happen to voters if we insist on our positions in a selfish way?
What will happen to the party is an understandable argument according to the logic of a traditional party. But Momentum never wanted to be a traditional party. The question of us was never what we would do with us – but what will happen to Hungary.
My initiative was supported by the Momentum nomination presidency with a bitter taste, but within a few days. However, the final and official decision of my proposal was made by the Extraordinary Delegate Meeting of Momentum after several weeks of debate. It can be stated that Momentum will not be on the ballot papers of the 2026 parliamentary elections, it will not share opposition votes, nor will it hinder the change of regime.
I believe this is right, responsible and above all brave move.
I knew it would lead to conflicts. For a long time, it seemed that there would be no political will to take true responsibility. But the power of publicity eventually turned out to be a will -bending. This decision might never have been made if you were not commenting, supportive posts, and thousands of personal encouragements behind the matter.
I am proud to have taken on this debate in the public, because this is the only way to help with the power of the public – with your strength, with your power – to help you get a better insight into the moment and return to your original mission, the path of the change of regime.
The fate of the coming months is whether the parties will be able to see their own party interests and finally choose the interests of the home. I ask everyone to think about what’s more important to him – the future of his party or his country? Is it worth sacrificing another four years just for some politicians to keep their velvet chair in Parliament?
It’s time for the parties to finally hear the voters’ word – and not only hear, but also take it seriously. The will of the voters is heard by the measure of credibility – but the livelihood politics itself is not heard.
I believe this is not the time of petty political games, but the time of brave and responsible decisions! We did what the home required.
