Deadly accident in Ida-Virumaa: the SLI died, 14 people were injured
Yesterday, March 25, at about 15:40 the police received a message about an accident on the Tallinn-Narva highway in the village of Voka (Crossroads of the BRU), as a result of which a military service soldier died.
According to the head of the Yykhvi police department Pavel Raskin, three vehicles participated in the accident: the Army SUV Mercedes-Benz, the Lexus passenger car and the bus. According to the police, Lexus was moving towards Tallinn, the bus was behind him. The military SUV was heading towards Narva and, according to preliminary data, drove into the oncoming lane, hit Lexus and then collided with the bus.
At the time of the accident, there was one person in an army car. Unfortunately, the 21-year-old STR, driving a car received severe injuries and died on the spot.
14 people were injured on the bus. Two of them received serious injuries, including a 66-year-old driver. These victims, as well as still six, were delivered to Ida-Viru Central Hospital. Two with easy injuries were sent to the Narva hospital, another four helped on the spot.
Police, rescuers and ambulance promptly arrived at the scene in order to assist all the victims. Many passengers were able to get out of the bus on their own, and drivers passing by provided assistance to the wounded and helped them get out of the vehicle.
The police thanks all caring road users who stopped and extended to the help of help.
