Daycare center in Rumst must close after persistent shortcomings (Rumst)

Rumst

Daycare center De Hummeltjes in the Molenbergstraat must close its doors in mid -May. The Growing Agency has withdrawn the permit and an objection from the manager at an independent advisory committee was rejected. The parents of about forty children who are now being taken care of there must look for a new place.

The daycare center in question has already received various negative inspection reports in recent years. The established problems include too few supervisors for the number of children present, and essential information about the children such as allergies that are not clearly shared among the staff. There would also be shortcomings in terms of hygiene and safety, such as a safe sleeping position for the youngest children.

The manager was informed of the findings, but among other things an official reminder did not improve the situation. In December the agency decided to grow up to lift the permit. The manager objected to this, but the competent advisory committee decided at the beginning of this month not to respond to this. In other words, the decision to grow up is confirmed.

May

To give parents the time to find a new reception location, the Hummeltjes must only close effectively in May. There is a stake with, among other things, the local administration to help the affected parents.

Currently it is about forty children. Oricially there are 33 places, but not all children go every day. In addition, there are also many parents who already signed a contract for the future. (BLG)
