« Daughter » fraud. The senior has lost several thousand zlotys
The fraud was discovered when the woman contacted her grandson, who informed her that her daughter was on Austria.
How did « daughter » fraud happen?
A resident of the Bielsko poviat received a message from an unknown number, signed as her daughter. The sender claimed that his daughter’s phone fell into the toilet and asked for a transfer of PLN 3,995 to a friend’s account. The woman believed in this story and shed money. When the fraudster asked for another transfer, the woman contacted his grandson, who explained that her daughter could not send a message because she was on the plane.
Warning against fraudsters
The police warn against the fraudsters method of impersonating friends on social networks and requests for an urgent loan. Criminals often suggest an easy way to transfer cash, which may seem reliable. To avoid fraud, it is worth verifying the identity of people asking for a loan, contact them by phone, and use strong passwords and additional account protection.
How to protect yourself from fraud?
In order not to fall victim to fraudsters, it is recommended to verify the identity of people asking for a loan, telephone contact to confirm the need for help and to use strong passwords. It is also important to use two -component authentication and avoid saving passwords in the web browser.
