Daugavins ready to continue his career / day

« I don’t want to start some witch hunting, and Austria played better, » Daugavins concluded. « The opponents pushed us fast and very aggressive hockey, but we were looking for our game from the first minute. »

As Daugavins admitted in a conversation with Latvian media, the nerves « whistle » in such matches, but must learn to be in such games, because it is the sweet food of hockey.

« I can say from experience that in such matches I want to show the best performance that you are overwhelming and doing something and too much, » Daugavins explained.

« In previous games, we knew that we would play against the opponent who would » press « us the whole game, but we were so concentrated and fought at every square meter. This time there was a tension that we should have the first number. The Austrians went in every duel as » kamikades « and won in all. »

Daugaviņš also apologized to the many fans for failing to reach the quarter -finals, which the players themselves wanted.

« It seemed like a very good option, but there was a lack of concentrations for all 60 minutes, » admitted the captain of the Latvian unit.

Daugavins also admitted that this championship had failed in terms of performance, although he felt great physically and psychologically.

« Other times, you play terrible, feel catastrophic, but everything falls inside. This time it is quite the opposite – you feel perfect, but ‘the bag is empty, » the attacker said. « Here I have to take responsibility myself. »

The captain of the team also said he was ready to continue his career, but after such a tournament he might not expect decent contract offerings.

« With a zero goal, it is unlikely that anyone will call, but if I call, I will be ready, » the captain said of the next plans. « I have been a matter of honor in the team for years, and I thought I could still physically. Just return the taste of its goal, the leader instinct. You can do it while playing in the club. »

This year Daugavins participated in his 13th World Cup.

In Group A, Sweden is the leader with 18 points in six games, Canada and Finland, with 16 and 13 points respectively, but with ten points in seven games as Austria in the final group in the final group, for the first time since 1994.
