Dasha and Fairytale Island – Kommersant

Dasha Podshilova lives with his parents in Izhevsk. She has a rare genetic disease-beta-Talassemia. With this disease, hemoglobin is poorly produced – protein, the main task of which is to transport oxygen. Because of this, the girl’s body does not receive oxygen in sufficient quantities, all tissues and organs suffer from oxygen starvation, anemia begins. From the age of two, Dasha is constantly done by blood transfusion – it helps for a while, but then hemoglobin falls again. Doctors have prescribed the girl a drug that will help her develop her own hemoglobin and less often do blood transfusion. But the drug is very expensive, it is not possible to buy it to the family.

Dasha has her own ponies – white with a black mane. And your own island, where from the great land you can get to the raft. And the girl also has many friends from other cities and even countries. True, Dasha has all this in her favorite computer game “Pony Town”, but in fact, of course, she has no island. And there is no pony, although I would like so much. There is a cat and a kitten that she cares about. And a computer with a large monitor – like a window into a world that is not yet very accessible to the girl.

Dasha cannot go to school: there is a risk of catching any infection, but you can’t get sick. The girl is studying remotely. Occasionally it turns out to go to the city with two girlfriends, take a walk, sit in a cafe. But fast food is also impossible, you have to observe a rather strict diet. And Dasha quickly gets tired of walks, weakens. But in the evening you can turn on the computer and get to your fabulous island.

– It is very beautiful there: trees, rocks, small cozy houses! Even in the game, you can create your hero-a pony that can even look like you, only better, because all the ponies are healthy and funny. And there you can get acquainted, communicate and be friends with other players. Or travel to different lands. If the pony is drawn wings, then he can even fly! – says Dasha.

She dreams of real travels, but so far it’s hard to even just walk: the girl has attacks of strong weakness and dizziness, blood can go from his nose.

Two to three times a month, Dasha goes to the hospital, where she is made blood transfers to increase hemoglobin. Recently, this must be done more and more often. And due to overflow in the body, excess iron accumulates, liver, kidneys, stomach and other organs suffer. The girl is very tired of treatment, but the dad is always nearby – she supports, encourages.

– Our Dasha is even big by years, but child! – says Papa Konstantin. – All in his kittens, on the islands and in dreams. He wants to go to Moscow. I was there at the examination at the year of age, but, of course, it does not remember anything. He studies well, but she is still more interesting for her fairy tales – she fantasizes, draws, invents stories.

Dasha dreams, however, very carefully. She is a little afraid of real life, since her life is familiar to her worse than a computer game.

– I would like to become a veterinarian, to treat animals. Can I try? – says Dasha shyly. – Or go to other countries and get acquainted live with friends in the game.

But dad does not like to dream – he believes that it is necessary to act.

– In our family it is so customary: mom – to talk heart to heart, and if there are any problems, then there is already demand from my father. With difficulty, I achieved to make the diagnosis correct. In Izhevsk, not all doctors even heard about such a rare disease, ”says Konstantin.“ Then, when the prescribed treatment became worse helping, I again turned to Moscow. ” Doctors said that Dasha needed the medicine. It costs a lot of money: the price of six bottles of the drug necessary for the first course of treatment is more than a million rubles!

Documents for obtaining a medicine for the State Council will take more than one month, but we need a rebooted urgently. Let’s help Dasha! It is time for her to leave her fairy -tale island and go into real life, which is much more interesting than even the most beautiful fairy tale.
