Dark Pictures becomes a reality

Crime story writer Ragnar Jónasson has founded the company Dimma Pictures in collaboration with the media company Stampede Ventures and producer John-Paul Sarni.

The group has previously worked together on the TV series Dimma, which was shown on Siminn TV directed by Lasse Hallström, starring Lena Olin.

The company will produce films and television shows based on Ragnar’s books and books of other authors from Scandinavia and other European countries.

The Girl Who Died the first task

The first project will be The Girl Who Died, based on Ragnar’s book called the Village and was published in 2018. There will be the lead role of Anna Friel, which is known for her acting in the television series Marcela.

Two other projects are already on the drawing board at Dimma Pictures, or Reykjavik: A Crime Story, which is based on the book Reykjavík, which Ragnar wrote with former Prime Minister Katrina Jakobsdóttir and Snowblind, based on Ragnar’s second book, snow blind. There Thorvaldur David Kristjánsson will be starring.
