Danko asks the end of Zmeka – SME

BRATISLAVA. Chairman of the coalition SNS and Vice -President of Parliament Andrej Danko He called on the Minister of Defense Robert Kalinak (Direction) to address the position of Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces, which is currently held by Daniel Zmeko.

He believes that Kalinak will accept this call constructively. The occupation of the position would like to deal with the coalition.

This stems from Danko’s statement on the social network.

« In the period of 2020 and 2023, the management of the General Staff helped Minister Naďa with the handover of S300, migov and other military equipment. It is unimaginable if the Ministry of Defense today demands new financial resources to decide on these finance people who cooperate with Naď, » Danko said.

In his words, the CIS chief is aware that in 2018, at the time when the CIS was dominated by the resort, Zmeka chose the Minister Peter Gajdoš.

He pointed out that the then minister had a choice between themes and Pavel Mack.

« I think he gave the armed forces what he could. It is high time for the armed forces to have the head of the Chief of the General Staff, who will move them further, » he added.

Daniela Zmeka first introduced this post in this position by Minister Peter Gajdoš in May 2018.

Four years later, when the department of defense was led Jaroslav Naď (then OĽaNOtoday Democrats) the government proposed him again.

The Chief of General Staff appoints and recalls President of the Slovak Republic on the proposal of government. He is subordinate to the Minister of Defense, who is responsible for the performance of his office. The appointment is limited to a maximum of two terms of office in a row.

Zmek will expire the second term of office next May.
