New management and new organizational structure

Both Verdo Energy Systems and Verdo Teknik have gained new directors over the past few months, and there is full focus on regaining profitability. In Verdo Energy Systems, you look into business models with smaller projects and thus also less risk.

The Group’s organization is also being adapted. Back in January, Verdo announced that it would now go from being a classic group to being a conglomerate with five more independent business areas. In practice, this means that all the subsidiaries themselves are given responsibility for staff functions such as finance, HR, IT, warehouse and communication. The reason is that the companies have such different needs that the common staff and the common solutions have not provided the desired synergy between the companies. Now, instead, the individual company is given direct responsibility for all expenses and thus also the opportunity to choose solutions that are more targeted at the needs of the individual company.

The Verdo Group’s new CEO, Jesper Vinter Barslund, took office on April 1, 2025 and is in the process of assessing and implementing measures to increase profitability in commercial activities.

« Things do not change overnight, but we have encapsulated the areas that are not profitable and have full focus on reducing risks and increasing profitability across the Verdo Group. Therefore, I am also sure we can reverse the development, even if the challenges are still significant and need to be handled, » says Jesper Vinter Barslund.

Customers can sleep safely

Despite the historic deficit of the total Verdo Group, the more than 100,000 supply customers in Randers and Herning can sleep safely. There is no need to worry that the deficit ends up as price increases on heat and water bills. It cannot be done at all, since the utilities are regulated by the Supply Act and must therefore rest in itself. The rest-in-self principle means that the bills on heat and water must always reflect the real costs of supply. Neither more nor less.

In the future, the commercial activities must be profitable and contribute positively to Verdo’s results creation.

« It is a clear strength for Verdo to have both regulated and commercial activities in the group, as this makes Verdo’s business model more robust in a future in need of large investments in the green transition. However, the commercial companies must all be profitable, which in 2024 has not been the case. firmly.
