A visit to the refrigerator counter will soon be a little greener – and a little cheaper.

For the Danes who have hung for minced steaks and spaghetti bolognese, a new suggestion has now been launched on how classic dishes can be made more climate -friendly without compromising taste or texture.

MENU and SAVE now move into the market for so -called hybrid meat products, where meat is mixed with vegetables. The new initiative is called “Combi HAK” and is developed by Danish Crown. The combination consists of 65 percent minced beef and 35 percent vegetables – including root vegetables and fermented onions – and should, according to the manufacturer, be used in ordinary dishes without adversely affecting the food experience.

Less CO₂, more food for money

According to Danish Crown, the product reduces the climate impact by 32 percent compared to the same amount of pure minced beef. At the same time, it is 20 percent cheaper than the classic pure meat product.

It all comes without additives, and according to the company, it is a real attempt to get more Danes to make greener choices without lifting the index finger.

Popular in large kitchens – and now on the way to the home kitchen

The product has already been tested and used in professional large kitchens, including canteens and restaurants, where a variant with half meat and half green has provided a CO₂ drop of up to 46 percent.

Now the same must happen in the country’s private pots and pans.

« Many existing blend products do not live up to the expectations the Danes have for consistency and preparation when it comes to, for example, minced steaks. But with combi notches, the Danes can continue to eat their dishes and at the same time save CO₂, and we are very happy to give them, » says Finn Klostermann, CEO of Danish Crown Beef.

According to Danish Crown, combi notch is ideal for everything from tacos to lasagna-and should make it possible to reduce the climate imprint one meat sauce-IT.
