Cypriot youth, with smart agricultural projects that increase productivity in Teknofest TRNC – Cyprus Newspaper
Cypriot high school students struggling in the Social Innovation Competition within the scope of Teknofest in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) are increasing productivity in agriculture with the project called ECowind.
Teknofest, the world’s largest aviation, Space and Technology Festival, hosts visitors in the TRNC.
The festival is organized under the auspices of the TRNC Presidency, with 132 stakeholders in the Turkish Technology Team Foundation and the Ministry of Industry and Technology at the former Ercan Airport with 132 stakeholders.
6 Technology Competitions with 13 subcategories are held within the scope of Teknofest TRNC which will host visitors until 4 May. More than 47 thousand competitors from 22 countries, including Türkiye, applied to these competitions.
Those who ranked among 268 finalist teams formed by 1083 contestants competing in the travel of technology producing and development will receive their awards in Teknofest TRNC main scene.

The Agritech Innovators team, who participated in the competition from the TRNC, includes the finalist teams in the Social Innovation Competition held within the scope of Teknofest.
Near East College students Ece Ülgen Akfert, Baran İlhan Dinçkuyucu, Boran Niyazi Dinçkuyucu, Nisa Delibaş, Defne Solyalı, Erk Güneşer, Ahmet Karahüseyin and Çağan Öztürk are the teachers of the team.
Nisa Delibaş, the captain of the team competing in the high school category, said that the AA correspondent provides smart irrigation through wind turbines, solar panels and moisture sensors.

Delibaş stated that the system detects the needs of the plant and provides the necessary water thanks to the sensors after the storage and said, “In this way, we increase productivity and reduce the cost.” he said.

Delibaş said that there is also the mobile application of the systems, said:
“Thanks to our mobile application, we can control the system where we want. There are many things that distinguish our project from other projects. For example, in our project, we use both the wind turbine and solar panels together at the same time. Our project also measures the moisture content of the plant in every 500 milliseconds. In all other projects, these irrigation is set.”
Delibaş stated that he was Cypriot and that he wanted to participate in the contest when he heard that Teknofest would be realized here and completed his words as follows:
“I am very happy to join Teknofest. It is a really good experience. I have made many new friends. It is also a good thing to see the development of technology. I am very happy to have the chance to show our technology knowledge in such a great competition.
