Cyclists Today in Hungary: Police denied their escort, everything else runs according to plan – society

After the first day of driving arrived in Subotica, where they were prepared by the welcome and where they spent the night.

After the sleek night, they headed to Hungary, and the border, according to our bicyclists interlocutors, passed without problems and retaining.

Talking to the students we performed the phone, while they were on an unplanned break not far from the Hungarian border.

Student Igor Jovanovic says that in Subotica, they were welcomed as that the whole city was « lively » because of their arrival, and that they arrived in an unplanned break to make the Hungarian police continue through Hungary.

« At the border, it went through. And our and Hungarian customs were very warm and kind to us. Currently, we have succeeded with them, because we had to stop by the Hungarian police to arrange about further escort, » Igor says.

He says that Hungarian police do not allow them to move in one group, but require them to have to separate.

« They told us that we could not move in a column, but that we can move in groups of us 15, so we will most likely have to separate, » he said.

Igor told us that he was at what he hears the smallest distance between groups 100 meters, so they would form such a column that each group is one of the second 100 meters.

He says that today’s plan to cross about 150 kilometers, to the place Dunaujvaros where they will spend the night, and that tomorrow aims to be the capital of Hungarian Budapest.

« The day is wonderful, shining, not a cold or warm-ideal day for cycling. We get some 150 kilometers and we get to Dunaujvaros tonight, » says Igor for today.

Vojin Radivojevic is a student at the Faculty of Mining and Geology, which came to Novi Sad the day before the train to Strasbourg.

He says that after crossed almost 120 kilometers, energy is good and that cyclists have no problems with fatigue and injuries.

« It’s just the beginning, we just started and now energy is great, no one is tired. We’re all happy, but I’ll see that this energy will fall, » says Vojin.

Among cyclists are not all professional cyclists and this is the first time they are going to this far by bike.

Vojin says it’s true, but that all bikers passed test driving before departure.

« I’ve been dealing with a triathlon and this is not a problem for me. However, all that was awarded to the time. For now, everyone could accompany the problems during this time that driving is », stating Vojin Radivojevic for today.

The Faculty of Mechanical Engineering in Belgrade Vuk Nektarijević is also on its way to his colleagues from Novi Sad.

And as his colleagues, he says that everything flows on the plan for now except unplanned watch after the crossing of the border due to the Hungarian police.

We asked him if they were logistically well prepared and whether there were someone who could give them medical help if injuries or downs come.

« Funds collected and the things we brought in the vans going to us and we also have everything we need in the case. In the case of some injuries or other contingency, there are several guys from the mountain rescue with us, » says Vuk.

Something later we managed to hear from the FTN student in Novi Sad Milico Marjanović, because the students made another unplanned break.

He says that the police stopped them in front of a smaller place and that they have no police escort since joining Hungary but are forced to move in smaller groups.

« We are currently stopped in front of a smaller place. I don’t know what the name is written since we entered Hungary, so we need to stay together. I don’t know why the police denied us », says Milica. « 

She says the reason for stopping the crowd that their column made, but that her impression that she was disproportionately many police officers came to stop them

« From here, our vehicles will be able to go with us, but it will be waiting for us at every passing point. It has been agreed with the police for our vehicles to the next pass point and that it will be a practice to avoid the crowds on the road, » Milica lists.

She says other than this difficulty, due to deprived police escort, it is complicated, but that energy is good and slowly adapt to the new situation, and that it should not be more important during today’s path.
