Cuts of wealth tax does not provide increased defense ability
Is it a bad and too early April joke we are witnessing? I immediately ask myself the question when I read « Tax cuts to the rich to make Norway safe » (TV2)and that both Sylvi Listhaug, Guri Melby and Erna Solberg now provide a security policy argument for wealth tax cuts.
Yes, it is well known that the right -hand side’s most important election campaign is lower tax for some of the country’s richest people. But when the parties on the right now will imagine people to cut the wealth tax should increase Norway’s defense ability – then it is fully understandable that even the business newspaper Dagens Næringsliv mentions it as « Something buzz that sounds like it’s coming from a young right-wachspiel at Bygdøy ».
Of course, it is as simple as this: wealth tax cuts do not, of course, increase defense ability. However, it cuts the revenues of the community. History has shown that when the Right controls the country, these tax cuts are followed by unsocial cuts and increased expenses for people with low and common income. In addition, Erna Solberg reveals that Høyre’s desire to strengthen the Armed Forces does not stand in the way of continuing for flat cheese cheese in the defense sector!
In the face of a new reality, many old truths and performances need to be adjusted. The fact that the right side nevertheless goes into the election year on the autopilot is significant for how difficult such an adjustment can be. The Labor Party will stand hard to secure Norway’s safety and the interests of the export companies in the future.
Of course, we are also ready to discuss both defense policy and tax policy in the coming weeks and the months to come, but the link between wealth tax and defense ability should be scraped as soon as possible.
