Currently, there are no about 450,000 residents / day available in Riga shelters

Currently, shelter options are just over 200,000 people in shelters

The shelters are divided into four categories – public, local, private and non -published.

Any citizen who has no shelter will be available for refuge in public shelters. Local shelters are where only people in the building, such as school students and teachers, have enough space.

Private shelters are in private property and require consent. Unpublished shelters, on the other hand, are used by state and municipal institutions that maintain critical infrastructure.

As Reinson explained, he currently does not have a correct answer to where about 450,000 Rigans shelter. In addition, about 2% of the displaced persons have to face in the event of a crisis.

Consequently, without a targeted construction and renovation support program, the private sector cannot do.

Reinson pointed out that the basements of the buildings in Stalin’s time at home, 602, 119 and 103 Series homes are very good at home.

As reported. Riga Municipality has published a digital map that includes shelters that have been inspected by the State Fire and Rescue Service (VUGD) and the Riga City Council Civil Protection and Operational Information Department, recognized as valid and are located in the municipal or mixed property.

The Riga Shelter Card is published in the « Security » section of the portal « Georiga.eu », where there is also a separate layer of security information.

The map reflects only the shelters that are under the control of the municipality and correspond to the public or local access. Such an approach provides transparent and understandable information on safe stay in the event of a crisis. The map does not yet include the shelters that are in the state or private property, as the owner needs individual approval for their disclosure.

This year, Riga Municipality has a budget of EUR 1.2 million to arrange the shelters in the budget, and in addition to the financing of European Union funds of EUR 5.8 million. These funds will allow about 150 safe shelter sites throughout Riga in the coming years.

The SFRS has inspected 579 objects in Riga, which would be suitable for refuge. Of the 317 objects owned by the municipality, 218 have been recognized as appropriate or partially relevant. Of these, 118 include schools, universities, scientific research or sports buildings, seven medical or health care institutions, 15 social group dwelling houses, 42 administrative buildings, and 36 are other buildings such as apartment houses, garages, industrial buildings, station, shops and hotels.

Riga Municipality has currently labeled asylum sites on 65 sites, which can also be found on the map. The number of labeled objects will be constantly updated and included on the map.
