CSV youth organization criticizes Peace Pension Plans | Luxembourg word
The government’s plan to raise the years of contributions for the pension is not well received by many. Even the youth organization of the CSV, the CSJ, was critical of the situation of the nation in its reaction to peace.
At the current time it is not yet clear what a definitive reform will look, the CSJ points out in a press release on Thursday afternoon. The youth organization therefore does not want to « indulge in speculation ».
These details on the pension reform have so far been known
But even if the youth of the CSV emphasizes that there will be a pension reform at all, it is worried about the generation contract. It is a fact that « demographic development puts pressure on the pension system and the population gets older ». The youth should therefore be « given something because we will also be in the pension for longer » and the general life expectancy has increased significantly over the years.
Work longer, yes – but not forced
Together with other youth parties, one would have agreed « that everyone has to be ready to make a compromise for this reform ». However, the youth organization openly wonders in the press release « whether everyone wants to contribute their part in the sense of generation justice ». « With the information currently available, this reform does not seem to comply with this, » said the CSJ.
Working longer should be worthwhile, but it should not be forced.
From a press release from the CSJ
The youth organization refers to the statements of Friedens, according to which not all professionals will be affected by an extension of the contributions.
In addition, the CSJ points out that « longer work is rewarded and should not be imposed ». Motivating people would be more worthwhile than forcing them to extend their professional career.
