CSU crisits pro asylum: « Staging by asylum activists »
The CSU accuses refugee helpers to systematically prevent rejections on the German border. The focus of the criticism: activists of the organization Pro Asyl. They have been « on the road along the escape routes for years, also at the border crossings, » said Alexander Hoffmann, CSU national group leader in the Bundestag. « There is recommended refugees to throw away their ID cards because it makes deportation from Germany significantly more difficult. » In addition, one would advise the refugee to « buy a new cell phone and a new prepaid card because the route can then no longer be traced, » said Hoffmann.
The reason for the criticism is a decision by the Berlin Administrative Court. At the beginning of the week, the judges had declared the rejection of three people from Somalia to be illegal in an urgent decision. According to the Federal Ministry of the Interior, the Somalians actually contacted the court with the support of Pro Asyl. The decision triggered a debate about the legality of the tightened border controls that the new government around Interior Minister Alexander Dobrindt (CSU) launched. The three refugees also had « brand new cell phones », said Hoffmann. « For me, the clear feature of a staging by asylum activists is wearing. »
The Federal Government holds onto the rejections
Pro asylum rejected the allegations. « These allegations have nothing to do with the facts, » said Managing Director Karl Kopp of our editorial team. « We are a human rights organization and support refugees in court. It was also in the case of the three people from Somalia, a woman of whom is still a minor. » The fact that people recommend disposing of their ID cards or buying new cell phones are wrong assumptions. « Our work is attacked, » said Kopp. « Even refugees have a right to go to court and be represented appropriately. » For his part, Kopp criticized the CSU. « The so -called asylum seek is a break in European law, » he said. « But we are lucky that we live in a constitutional state. And the CSU also has to adhere to the applicable law. » Kopp’s criticism goes even further: The judges last had and judge of the Berlin Administrative Court complained about a number of hostility and threats since the decision. The situation is similar per asylum. « Expressions such as those of the CSU contribute to this, » says Kopp.
Since the decision, the government has said several times that one adheres to the rejection of asylum seekers. Shortly after taking office on May 7th, Interior Minister Dobrindt had initiated the tightening of the border controls. The measure is controversial because, according to the Dublin process, asylum seekers are at least entitled to check which state is responsible for its application. However, the number of rejections is manageable: According to the federal police, 160 asylum seekers were rejected by June 4. In total, the officials found 4128 unauthorized entry during this period.
Alexander Dobrindt wants to restrict family reunification
The government wants to further reduce the number of refugees. Among other things, the family reunification for people with limited protection status for two years is to be suspended. The reunification is currently limited to 1000 people per month. There is « not a single switch that can be killed and then the problem of illegal migration is solved, » said Dobrindt. « Rather, the solution to push back the illegal migration is the sum of many individual measures. » Criticism of the measure came from the left and the Greens.
